Acceptable Use & Community Guidelines
Version 2.0 · Last updated October 14, 2026
The short version. KOKO is a technology platform where people discover, book, and log martial-arts training. KOKO is not a gym, coach, or training provider, and it does not run, supervise, or vet any training. Every gym and coach on KOKO is an independent business. Train hard, tell the truth, respect people, and keep each other safe.
These Acceptable Use & Community Guidelines (the "Guidelines") govern your conduct on, and the content you contribute to, the KOKO app, website, and services (the "Platform") operated by KOKO Industries LLC ("KOKO," "we," "us"). They are part of the Terms of Service and should be read with the Privacy Policy. Violating them is a breach of the Terms of Service and may result in removal of content, suspension or termination of your account, withholding of payouts as the Coach Terms allow, and referral to law enforcement.
These Guidelines set a minimum standard of conduct. They are not a promise that KOKO will monitor or police the Platform, and they do not shift responsibility for anyone's conduct or safety to KOKO. You are responsible for your own conduct, your own safety, and everything you post.
1. Who these Guidelines apply to
These Guidelines apply to every user of the Platform, including athletes, coaches, gyms, hosts, and organizers, and to all content you submit, post, or transmit, including profiles, sessions, listings, training logs, photos, videos, reviews, and messages ("Content").
2. Age
You must be 18 or older to have a KOKO account. Do not create an account for, or post on behalf of, anyone under 18. Unaccompanied minors are not permitted at any session surfaced through the Platform. Where a gym lawfully allows minors at its own classes, the gym's own rules, supervision, and consent requirements apply. Coach bookings are for adults only. No one may book, deliver, or attend a Coach Booking for or with anyone under 18.
3. Content standards
You are responsible for your Content. It must be truthful, first-hand, and not misleading. You must own it or have permission to post it, and it must not violate these Guidelines, the law, or anyone else's rights.
4. Prohibited content
Do not post, upload, or send Content that:
- is unlawful, or promotes, facilitates, or instructs any unlawful act;
- threatens, harasses, bullies, or defames anyone, or is meant to intimidate, degrade, or incite violence against any person or group;
- attacks or demeans anyone on the basis of race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, age, or any other protected characteristic;
- is sexually explicit or pornographic, or sexualizes any person (any Content that sexualizes a minor is strictly prohibited and will be reported to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children and law enforcement);
- glorifies or promotes gratuitous or unlawful violence, self-harm, or abuse of any person or animal;
- infringes any copyright, trademark, right of publicity, privacy right, or other right;
- discloses anyone's private or identifying information without consent, including images or video taken or shared without consent;
- is false, deceptive, or fraudulent, including fake, paid, incentivized, or retaliatory reviews; or
- contains malware or code designed to disrupt, damage, or gain unauthorized access to any system or data.
5. Prohibited conduct
Do not:
- Misrepresent your identity, rank, belt, lineage, affiliation, credentials, insurance, or qualifications, or those of any gym, coach, or session. Rank and lineage are matters of trust in the martial-arts community. Falsifying them is a serious violation.
- Impersonate any person or business, or falsely claim an affiliation with, endorsement by, or sponsorship by anyone, including KOKO.
- Harass, stalk, threaten, intimidate, or endanger anyone, on or off the Platform.
- Use the Platform to locate, follow, or track any individual, including by using session, Roster, check-in, training log, or profile information to work out where a specific person is or will be.
- Arrange or promote any unsanctioned fight, assault, ambush, or "call-out," or any activity that a reasonable person would understand is meant to hurt someone rather than to train.
- Scrape, harvest, crawl, or copy Platform data without our written permission; get around any access control, rate limit, or security measure; or access the Platform by automated means.
- Spam, phish, or send unsolicited bulk messages; run fake, duplicate, or bot accounts; or manipulate listings, reviews, rankings, Track Records, or head counts.
- Interfere with or overload the Platform, or probe, scan, or test the vulnerability of any system without our permission.
- Use the Platform for any unlawful purpose or in violation of anyone's rights.
6. Check-ins, training records, and bookings
Your Track Record, check-ins, and session confirmations are trusted by other athletes, gyms, and coaches, and check-in triggers payment to coaches. Keep them honest. Do not:
- check in to a session you are not attending, or check in for anyone else;
- log training you did not do, or inflate your record;
- report a false no-show, a false problem with a session, or a false safety concern;
- book sessions you do not intend to attend in order to block a coach's availability;
- use stolen or unauthorized payment methods, or file chargebacks for sessions you received as booked; or
- for a session booked through KOKO, ask for or make payment outside the Platform.
7. In-person sessions
The Platform lets users post, find, join, and book in-person training at gyms, parks, beaches, private property, and other places. KOKO does not organize, host, supervise, staff, insure, or inspect any session, and is not a party to any interaction between users. Posting, featuring, or sponsoring a session does not make KOKO its organizer or host. These rules are in addition to the assumption of risk, waiver, and release in the Terms of Service and the Participant Waiver.
7.1 If you post or host a session or coach one, you are responsible for:
- having the right to use the location, including any permit, permission, or reservation required by the owner, gym, or government authority;
- following venue rules, park and beach rules, and all laws;
- not training anywhere doing so is prohibited, trespassing, or unsafe;
- describing yourself and the session truthfully, including any rank, credential, insurance, or affiliation;
- the safety, supervision, and conduct of the session, including screening participants and requiring any waiver you choose; and
- not allowing unaccompanied minors.
7.2 If you attend a session, you understand that martial arts and combat-sports training are inherently dangerous and carry a risk of serious injury, permanent disability, and death. You are responsible for:
- confirming for yourself that any host, coach, gym, session, and location is legitimate, qualified, and safe (KOKO does none of this for you);
- knowing your own health and limits, telling the coach or host about injuries and conditions, and stopping when something is wrong;
- signing and following any waiver, rules, and instructions of the gym, coach, or host; and
- your own conduct toward, and safety around, other participants.
In an emergency, or if you see a crime or serious injury, call 911. KOKO is not an emergency service.
8. Coaches
If you coach on KOKO, the Coach Terms apply in addition to these Guidelines. In particular:
- Zero tolerance for sexual misconduct, harassment, or abuse. Any credible report will result in immediate suspension while we review it and may be referred to law enforcement.
- Adults only. Do not accept, deliver, or continue a Coach Booking with anyone under 18.
- Professional boundaries. Use athletes' contact information only to deliver and schedule sessions. Do not pressure athletes to train in unsafe conditions, at unsafe intensity, or outside the session they booked.
- Report incidents. Tell KOKO promptly about any serious injury or allegation of misconduct connected with a Coach Booking.
9. Reviews and reputation
Reviews must reflect a genuine, first-hand experience. Do not post fake, paid, incentivized, coordinated, or retaliatory reviews; do not review yourself or a competitor to manipulate reputation; and do not post false statements of fact. Opinions must be honestly held. Do not threaten a bad review to get a refund or other benefit, and do not offer anything in exchange for a good one.
10. Coaches, gyms, and hosts are independent
If you list as a coach, gym, or host, you are an independent business, not an agent, employee, or partner of KOKO, and you must not say otherwise. You are responsible for your own licenses, insurance, taxes, permits, safety practices, and legal compliance. Never state or imply that KOKO has vetted, certified, endorsed, or insured you. Some directory listings are compiled by KOKO from public sources. If you operate a listed gym or are a listed coach, you may claim, correct, or request removal of your listing at [email protected].
11. Respect others' privacy
Do not post anyone's personal or identifying information without consent. Do not post photos or video of identifiable people without their consent, and never of minors without a parent's or guardian's consent. Do not use the Platform to compile or publish where a specific person trains or will be.
12. Reporting
Report Content or conduct that violates these Guidelines in the app or at [email protected], with enough detail for us to review it. Reporting does not obligate KOKO to take any particular action and is not a substitute for contacting law enforcement. If anyone is in danger, call 911 first.
13. Enforcement
KOKO may, at its discretion and without prior notice or liability, remove or restrict Content, limit the visibility of any listing, cancel bookings (with refunds as the Booking Terms provide), hold payouts as the Coach Terms allow, and suspend or terminate any account for any actual or suspected violation of these Guidelines, our terms, or the law, or to protect users or the public. We may preserve and disclose information as described in the Privacy Policy and as the law requires, and may refer conduct to law enforcement.
KOKO has no obligation to monitor the Platform, but may do so. KOKO is an interactive computer service. It is not the publisher or speaker of Content posted by users or third parties and does not guarantee that Content's accuracy, legality, or safety. A decision not to act in one case does not waive our right to act in another.
14. Changes
We may update these Guidelines. We will communicate material changes, and your continued use of the Platform after they take effect means you accept them.
